Debut of director Robert Zemeckis’ Flight trailer. It’s nice to see Zemeckis get away from the whiplash CGI animation roller-coasters of “Beowulf” (2007) and “The Polar Express” (2004) to get back to the live human being filmmaking of “Cast Away” (2000). As is, this looks like one of the key Oscar candidates for this Fall. For Denzel Washington, he won Oscar gold for “Training Day” back in 2001, but since then hasn’t pushed himself that much artistically except for “American Gangster” (2007) and “Inside Man” (2006). “The Great Debators” (2007), which he directed and co-starred, was a valorous effort for him as well. Shooting locations for the film took place primarily in Atlanta, Georgia. “Flight” is set to open November 2, 2012.
